PDFs, Viewer Frame, Links

All texts are accompanied by links pointing to scans of their sources. Clicking on a PDF link such as this either opens it in a separate browser window, or in an embedded PDF viewer frame on the right side of this page. You can activate the viewer frame here or hide it here. (This is how it looks in Chrome.)

If the viewer frame is activated, a number of links will by default open in that frame (if it isn't activated, these links will open in a new tab).

However, opening PDFs or links in the embedded viewer frame will only work if your browser ...
(1) ... is NOT set to open PDF files with an external viewer, or ...
(2) ... is NOT set to downloading PDFs instead of opening them within the browser. (Instructions for Firefox on how to change your browser settings.)

Also, the viewer frame sidebar does NOT work properly on Android devices.

Different types of links are styled differently:
Link that opens in the viewer frame
  External link
Internal link that points to a PDF file
⁕ Links without these markers are internal links, that either open in a new browser tab, or that point to a location within the current document.
